"When I met the CEO of a large foreign company, I asked him what he thought was his biggest challenge.

The impact of GDPR on Ownership
of Connected Vehicle Data

"I just bought a car that has a connected on-board device.
What struck me when reading the general sales conditions of the car: my rights only cover personal data collected whilst signing the order form but the contract does not explicitly mention my rights of ownership of personal data collected by the connected device and let alone my rights with regard to data collected when I do NOT subscribe to the connected services.
I put myself in the shoes of my transport customers who buy not one, but dozens or even thousands of industrial vehicles and I asked myself : what ownership rights do companies have with regard to data gathered thru connected devices?"
